Geometrical structures of phosphorus-containing heterocycles 21. 2-alkoxy- and 2-phenoxy-2-oxo-1,2-oxaphosphorinanes

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A determination has been made of the dipole moments of the 2-(p-X-phenoxy)-2-oxo-1,2-oxaphosphorinanes, and of the dipole moment and Kerr constant of 2-methoxy-2-oxo-1,2-oxaphosphorinane.

  2. 2.

    These compounds exist as equilibrium mixtures of two chair conformations, the predominating form being that with an equatorial phosphoryl group and gauche-oriented alkoxy and phenoxy radicals.
