Abstract

A method of purifyingSarcocystis sporozoites following in vitro excystation is described. After passage of sporozoites through a modified DE 52 anion-exchange cellulose column, the mean recovery was 88% forS. capracanis, 71% forS hircicanis, 77% forS. ovicanis and 74% forS. arieticenis. Most of the sporozoites were motile, and the parasite suspension was free of excystation debris.
