Fine structure of a lens-covered photoreceptor in the cercaria ofTrichobilharzia ocellata

Abstract

The pigmented photoreceptor of theTrichobilharzia ocellata cercaria possesses a lens-like structure within the pigment cell. This may be responsible for the high sensitivity ofT. ocellata cercariae to the intensity and angle of incident light.
