Conclusions

Ozone reacts with phenol in aqueous solution, attacking the phenol group and opening the aromatic ring.

The reaction follows a bimolecular rate law over the entire range of ozone and phenol concentrations.

The Arrhenius parameters for reaction in water are anomalously high in comparison with the parameters for this same reaction in nonaqueous solution.
