Synthesis of acetylenic γ -hydroxy aldehydes and their reaction with primary amines

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Previously unknown acetylenicγ-hydroxy aldehydes were obtained by oxidation of primarytertiary acetylenicγ-glycols with neutral manganese dioxide.

  2. 2.

    The addition of n-butylamine to acetylenicγ -hydroxy aldehydes takes place at the carbonyl group to form acetylenic azomethines.
