Conclusions

  1. 1.

3,6-Dihydrophthalic anhydride and its 4,5-dimethyl derivative exist in the bathtub conformation with a deflection angle of about 130°.

  2. 2.

    The 4,5-epoxy-Δ1-tetrahydrophthalic anhydrides have a syn-bathtub conformation.
