Conclusions
-
1.
A study was made of the hydrogenolysis of gem-dimethylcyclobutane in the presence of Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir, and Ru, deposited on active charcoal.
-
2.
On all of the studied catalysts the hydrogenolysis of gem-dimethylcyclobutane proceeds selectively at the unshielded bond, with the formation of 2,2-dimethylbutane.
