The unwanted child and mental illness: A brief, selective review

Abstract

A commonly held belief is that the “unwanted” child is at risk for emotional disorders. This article teases out the aspects of unregulated fertility that are likely to result in an “unwanted” child and examines the evidence that suggest their relationship to mental illness.
