Conclusions
-
1.
Vanadium (II) complexes soluble in protic media are formed only with compounds containing HO or SH groups in the ortho position of the benzene ring. Complexes of 4-methylpyrocatechol, pyrogallol, and gallic acid reduce nitrogen to ammonia.
-
2.
Heterogeneous systems based on vanadium (II) with phenol, resorcinol, or hydroquinone do not reduce nitrogen in alkaline media.
