Conclusions
-
1.
The photoisomerization of the indolenine dicarbocyanine dyes leads to the formation of ordinary long-lived trans photoisomers and short-lived sterically hindered di-cis photoisomers.
-
2.
The dye photoisomers do not fluoresce. This leads to induced loss in resonators using dyes as active laser media.
