Brief Communications

  1. 1.

gem-Dinitroalkanes are formed when mononitroalkane salts are nitrated with nitroxyl fluoride.

  2. 2.

In contrast to the gem-dinitroalkanes, nitroform, and the halodinitromethanes can be nitrated with nitroxyl fluoride without prior conversion to the salt.
