Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The amount of ethanol formed in the presence of Re2S7 and Re2S7/Al2O3 at 230°, 130 atm, a rhenium-acetic acid ratio of 1∶20, and a reaction time of 6 h, is 95–100%.

     
  2. 2.

    Under the selected conditions, the rhenium obtained by the reduction of Re2O7 is about half as active as Re2S7.
