Conclusions
-
1.
When p-dimethylaminodiphenylferrocenylcarbonium tetraphenylborate is heated with dimethylaniline, reduction of the carbocation to p-dimethylaminodiphenylferrocenylmethane occurs.
-
2.
The alkylation of dimethylaniline in the p-position takes place along with the reduction when p-dimethylaminotriphenylcarbonium tetraphenylborate is used.
