Conclusions

  1. 1.

Yellow-colored polyesters of 4, 4′-di(hydroxyalkoxy)azobenzene were produced; films of them have a tear strength in the range 1000–1300 kg/cm2 and high stability to the action of light.

  2. 2.

An investigation of the comparative photochemical destruction of a number of mixed colored polyesters and the polyarylate of terephthalic acid and phenolphthalein (F-2) indicated that the introduction even of a small amount of a chromophore-containing substance substantially increases the stability of the polyesters to UV irradiation.

  3. 3.

Colored unsaturated polyesters of 4,4′-di(hydroxyalkoxy)azobenzene can be used as binders for glass plastics distinguished by high light stability, chemical stability, and good mechanical indices.
