Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The effect of solvent on the intramolecular migration of hydrogen in 3,6-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-phenoxyl has been studied.

     
  2. 2.

    On the basis of the experimental results and of isotopic substitution it is concluded that the intramolecular migration is homolytic in character.

     
  3. 3.

    Retardation of the reaction was detected when solvents able to form hydrogen bonds were present. The association constants of the radical with some of the solvents have been obtained.
