Mercuration of σ-heterocyclic derivatives of cyclopentadienyliron dicarbonyl

Conclusions

The σ-thienyl and σ-benzofuryl derivatives of cyclopentadienyliron dicarbonyl are mercurated at the five-membered heterocycle.

    The chloromercuri derivative\(\begin{array}{*{20}c} {\_\_\_\_} \\ {CpFe(CO)_{2^{\_\_\_} } \begin{array}{*{20}c} {||} & {||} & {HgCl} \\ \end{array} } \\ {\begin{array}{*{20}c} \setminus & / \\ \end{array} } \\ S \\ \end{array}\) when treated with sodium thiosulfate is symmetrized with a retention of the Fe-C σ-bond.
