Conclusions

  1. 1.

The porphyrin and acetylacetone complexes of Cu(II), Co(II), Co(III), Fe(II) and Fe(III) are effective antioxidants for the oxidation of cyclohexyl-, di-n-butyl-, benzyl-, and triethylamines, being regenerated in the chain rupture process.

  2. 2.

Negative catalysis in these reactions results from alternate oxidation and. reduction in the interaction of peroxide radicals (RO2.) with the higher and lower valence forms of the metal. Rate constants have been measured for the interaction of the RO2. with Cu(II), Co(II), Co(III), Fe(II) and Fe(III).
