Conclusion

  1. 1.

    The synthesis of 3β-acetoxy-20-hydroxy-Δ5-bisnorchoIenealdehyde (VII), the starting material for the synthesis of ecdysone-related compounds, was accomplished.

  2. 2.

    Starting with (VII), the isomeric Δ5-cholestene-3β,20,22-triols (I and XI) were obtained by the Grignard reaction.
