Conclusions

  1. 1.

The 3,6-cyclohexenedione ring, condensed in the 4,5 positions with a three-membered ring or a bicyclic system, exists in the syn-boat conformation.

  2. 2.

1,4-Dihydronaphthalene oxide exists in the anti-boat conformation in solution.

  3. 3.

The trans oxides of Δ3-caren-2-one and Δ3-carene-2,5-dione exist in forms showing pseudo-equatorial and pseudo-axial oxide ring orientations.
