Summary
-
1.
We have carried out for the first time the condensation of dialdehydocellulose with nitromethane in an aqueous alkali medium and have obtained new derivatives of cellulose which contain the NO2 group.
-
2.
The resulting preparation with a nitrogen content from 3.4 to 4.96% retains its fibrous structure, strength, and elasticity.
