Conclusions

When 3-methyl-5-thia-2-cyclohexen-1-one and the quaternary salt of 2-methyl-3-ethyl-5-aza-2-cyclohexen-1-one are heated with benzylamine they are respectively converted to the 1-benzyl-2,4-dimethyl- and 1-benzyl-2,3-dimethyl-4-ethylpyrroles.
