Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A new substrate of exonuclease A5, namely 1-β-cyanoethylphospho-3-thymidylyl(5′)-1,3-dihy-droxybenzene, was synthesized.

     
  2. 2.

    The phospho diester linkage in 1-β-cyanoethylphospho-3-thymidylyl(5′)-1,3-dihydroxybenzene has a high lability in alkaline medium when compared with the oligonucleotides of the desoxy series. In its accessibility of the action of exonuclease A5 the new substrate fails to differ from the corresponding tri-nucleoside diphosphate TpTpT.
