Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Determination of base pK a 's in nonaqueous solution by potentiometric titration is discussed, the case considered being that in which base protonization is masked by BHB+ complex formation and incomplete salt (ion pair) dissociation.

     
  2. 2.

    Using a new nitromethane pH scale based on picrate buffers, pK a (CH3NO2) values for various azobases have been determined from potentiometric titration data.
