Transformation of 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1,3-disilacyclobutane in presence of aluminum chloride

Conclusions

The reaction of equimolar amounts of 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1,3-disilacyclobutane and aluminum chloride gives tetramethylsilane and a mixture of linear and cyclic silmethylene compounds.
