Effect of protonation of benzene ring on chemical shifts of aromatic protons

Conclusions

Using a semiempirical quantum chemical approach (EHM), a study was made of the effect of protonating the benzene ring in phenol and the methylphenols on the redistribution of the charge density, and it was shown that the formedσ-complex partially retains an aromatic character.
