Concerning intramolecular transacetalization with the formation of 1,3-dioxanes

Summary

2-Methyl-1,3-dioxanes were isolated when the (α-ethoxyethyl) ethers of Β -hydroxycarbonyl compounds were subjected to the Reformatskii reaction.
