Synthesis and some properties of vinyl bornyl ether

Summary

  1. 1.

    Vinyl bornyl ether was synthesized and some of its conversions were studied.

  2. 2.

    Vinyl bornyl ether readily forms an acetal with the starting alcohol and also adds hydrogen chloride.

  3. 3.

    Butyl mercaptan react with vinyl bornyl ether either according to or contrary to Markovnikov's rule.

  4. 4.

    Vinyl bornyl ether undergoes polymerization to given polymers with molecular weights of 1200–1400.
