Abstract
The elution sequence of Yttrium and Europium from Dowex 50 W×8 with ammonium acetate is dependent on the concentration of the eluant. Using 0.73m-(NH4)0.94H0.06OCOCH3 Europium and Yttrium show the same behaviour upon elution. With lower concentrations but constant composition of the eluant, Europium is eluted before Yttrium, with higher concentrations the situation is reversed.
Comparison with an other study1 shows that different crosslinked resins at otherwise identical conditions give also inverse elution positions of the two elements.
