Abstract
The regions of stability of the monophosphides and arsenides having TiP-, NiAs-, NbAs-, WC- or MnP-type have been examined within ternary systems. The following ternary phases were found: (Ti0.5Cr0.5)P and (Ti0.5Mo0.5)P with NiAs-type, (Ti0.5W0.5)P with NbAs-type, and (Ti0.28W0.72)P with WC-type. There is an almost contineous transition between MoP and (Ti0.5Mo0.5)P, which can be explained by a series of complex intermediate states. A similar transition appears to occur between TiAs (NiAs-type) and CrAs (MnP-type). The structure type can be correlated with the number of the outer electrons of the transition element.
