Kinetics of the hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene and gyclopentene over raney nickel

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

The kinetics of the hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene and cyclopentene over Raney nickel were investigated.

  2. 2.

Both reactions are of zero order and they have the same temperature coefficient. At the same temperature the rate constants for the hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene are higher than those for the hydrogenation of cyclopentene, but the two reactions have the same activation energy.
