Summary
-
1.
An equation has been devised for calculating differential heats and entropies of adsorption of vapors on adsorbents of the first structural type.
-
2.
The calculation of pure differential heats of adsorption from this equation requires a knowledge of two structural characteristics of the adsorbent and of the tabulated values of the saturation vapor pressure, molar volume, parachor and coefficient of thermal expansion of volume of the adsorbed substance.
-
3.
An approximate method is given for calculating differential heats of adsorption of alkanes on adsorbents of the first structural type, which gives a precision of approximately 1%, and is based on a single characteristic, B, of the adsorbent and on structural increments of the heat of evaporation, which are given in the paper.
