Summary

  1. 1.

The polymerization of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone was carried out in aqueous solution in presence of H2O2 initiator at concentrations ranging from 0.8% to 8.5%, calculated as 30% hydrogen peroxide.

  2. 2.

The physicochemical characteristics were determined for a 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone polymer (PVP) effective as a plasma substitute. The polymerization conditions required for the preparation of such a polymer were established. A procedure was developed for the preparation of physiologically active sterile aqueous salt solutions.

  3. 3.

Molecular weight determinations were made on PVP preparations (plasma substitute and prolongator). The degree of dispersity of some PVP preparations was studied. It was shown that mass polymers have greater polydispersity than polymers prepared in solution.
