Summary

  1. 1.

The surface tension of electrolytic copper has been measured over the range 1100–1600° by Sugden's method.

  2. 2.

The surface tension of copper has a maximum value of 1350°.

  3. 3.

Hypotheses are advanced to explain the maxima observed in the surface tension-temperature curves of certain metals.
