Summary
-
1.
The state diagram of the alumina region of the ternary system Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 was constructed. The characteristic peculiarity of this system is the wide area of crystallization of γ-alumina stabilized by lithium. The corundum field, in contrast to other aluminosilicate systems, occupies only a very small area in this case.
-
2.
A eutectic with mp 1760° is formed by the lithium aluminates Li2O·Al2O3 and Li2O·5Al2O3.
-
3.
The boundaries of the fields of γ-alumina and Li2O·Al2O3 were determined in the pseudobinary system SiO2-Li2O-Al2O3.
-
4.
The direction of the boundary between the fields of corundum and mullite agrees with the eutectic point found previously by us in the system of alumina-silica.
