Oxidative side chain cleavage in the reaction of 20-hydrazones of Δ5-pregnenetiol-3β, 16α, 17α-one-20-16-acetates with leadtetraactate

Conclusions

Oxidative cleavage of the side chain takes place in the reaction of 20-hydrazones of steroid 16α, 17α-dihydroxy-ketone 16-acetates with lead tetraacetate, leading to the formation of 16α-acetoxy-17-ketones.
