1.
A study was made of the Hofmann rearrangement of the amide of L-menthyl-α-D-glucuronic acid. Subsequent mild acid hydrolysis of the obtained product leads to the hydrolysis of the glucuronide linkage.
-
2.
The indicated decomposition of the glucuronide linkage goes under conditions where other types of glycoside linkages are stable, in which connection the indicated method can prove valuable in accomplishing the selective hydrolysis of the glucuronide linkage in polyuronides.
