Self-focusing of helicon beams in a magnetized solid-state plasma

Abstract

It is demonstrated that narrow helicon beams with zero diffraction convergence can propagate within a magnetized solid-state (metal or semiconductor) plasma. The phase velocity and attenuation of such beams are significantly lower than in the case of a plane helicon.
