Summary

  1. 1.

    Copolymers of 2-vanyloxytriethylamine and methyl methacrylate were prepared in presence of 2,2′-azobis[2-methylpropionitrile]. In addition to the copolymers, polymers of the original monomers were isolated,

     
  2. 2.

    The content of vinyl ether units in the copolymers did not exceed 50 moles %.

     
  3. 3.

    It was shown that the 2-vinyloxytriethylamine units in the copolymers can be converted into quaternary ammonium salts.

     
  4. 4.

    Benzoyl peroxide does not initiate the polymerization of 2-vinyloxytriethylamine and its copolymerization with methyl methacrylate.
