Synthesis of orga nosilicon compounds containing the methacryloyl group

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

By reaction between potassium methacrylate and alkoxy(chloromethyl)silanes five new organosilicon compounds were obtained: ettioxy- and butoxy-(methacryloyloxymethyl)dimethylsilanes, diethoxy- and dibutoxy-(methacryloyloxymethyl) methylsilanes, and tributoxy(methacryloyloxymethyl)silane.

  2. 2.

An investigation was made of the heterofunctional cocondensation of ethoxy(methacryloyloxymethyl)-methylsilanes with diacetoxydimethylsilane and its polymerization products and with acetoxytrimethylsilane. It was shown that the process proceeds with formation of ethyl acetate and methacryloyl organosilicon compounds.

  3. 3.

Four new organosilicon compounds were prepared by this reaction: 1,5-bis(methacryloyloxymethyl)-hexamethyltrisiloxane, 1,7-bis(methacryloyloxymethyl)octamethyltetrasiloxane, 1,9-bis(methacryloyloxymethyl)-decamethylpentasiloxane, and 3 -(methacryloyloxymethyl)heptamethyltrisiloxane.
