Conclusions

Organomagnesium compounds react with the 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenoxyl radical according to a radical type reaction with the formation (after hydrolysis) of 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol and 2, (4)-alkyl-2, 4,6-tri-tert-butylcyclohexadienones.

A new method of synthesis of gem-dialkylcyclohexadienones is suggested by the reaction of phenoxyl radicals with organomagnesium compounds.
