Conclusions

1.
The constants r1 and r2 of the Fineman-Ross equation were determined in the copolymerization of vinyl acetate with 1,1-dichloropropene-1, initiated by azoisobutyrodinitrile at 50‡ and at pressures up to 6000. kg/cm2.
-
2.
An increase in the pressure substantially accelerates the copolymerization of vinyl acetate with 1,1-di chloropropene-1.
-
3.
The values of r1 and r2 do not vary when the pressure is increased from atmospheric to 2000 kg/cm2; a further increase in the pressure to 6000 kg/cm2 leads to a decrease in r1 (from 0.98 to 0.92) and to an increase in r2 (from ∼0 to 0.06). These results are explained on the basis of the representations of the influence of pressure upon sterically hindered reactions.
