Summary

  1. 1.

    The hydration of 2-cyanoethyl ethers of various acetylenic alcohols was carried out.

     
  2. 2.

    The resulting 2-cyanoethyl ethers of α-hydroxy ketones were converted into the corresponding 2-(methoxycarbonyl) ethyl ethers.
