Cleavage of methylphenylcyclosiloxanes with dichlorodimethylsilane

  1. 1.

    The reaction of methylphenylcyclosiloxanes with dichlorodimethylsilane leads to the formation of homologs of formula\(Cl - \begin{array}{*{20}c} \hfill {CH_3 } \\ \hfill | \\ \hfill {Si} \\ \hfill | \\ \hfill {CH_3 } \\ \end{array} - - \begin{array}{*{20}c} \hfill {C_6 H_5 } \\ \hfill | \\ \hfill {(OSi)_n } \\ \hfill | \\ \hfill {CH_3 } \\ \end{array} - - Cl\). Products containing from 2 to 10 silicon atoms in the molecule were isolated.

     
  2. 2.

    The hydrolysis of compounds containing 3 and 4 silicon atoms leads to the formation of cyclic compounds of corresponding structure. A new compound, namely 1,3-diphenyltetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane, was isolated.
