Summary

  1. 1.

    We have carried out the reaction of hexafluoroacetone with olefins, resulting in the formation of bistrifluoromethyl-Δ2-alkenyl carbinols.

  2. 2.

    By the reaction of hexafluoroacetone with ethylene in the presence of aluminum chloride we have obtained bistrifluoromethyl-β-chloroethyl carbinol.
