Summary
-
1.
The retained volumes have been found for 40 isoprenoid compounds (alcohols, acetates, aldehydes, ketones, esters, acids, etc.) on a column containing silicone elastomer as the stationary liquid phase.
-
2.
Small differences in the structure of isoprenoid substances have a marked effect on the retained volume. Especially marked is the effect of a double bond in the α,β-position to the carbonyl group.
-
3.
It has been found possible to use gas —liquid chromatography for the solution of a number of analytical problems important to the chemistry of isoprenoid compounds.
