Summary

  1. 1.

By the hydrogenation of 3-methyl-1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-1-yl)-1-penten-4-yn-3-ol and the Normant vinylation of β-ionone, 3-methyl-1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-1-yl)-1,4-pentadien-3-ol was prepared.

  2. 2.

Normant vinylation of the C18 3,4 dihydro ketone gave 3,7-dimethyl-9-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen1-yl)-1,6, 8-nonatrien-3-ol.
