Conclusions
-
1.
The protonation of anion radicals of nitrobenzene and α-nitronaphthalene was investigated. The reaction proceeds at a very high rate, close to the rate of diffusion, and has a practically zero activation energy.
-
2.
The decomposition of the anion radical of nitro-tert-butane has an activation energy of 18.3 kcal /mole.
