Summary
-
1.
We have studied the hydrogenation of the dinitriles of p-phenylenediacetic and terephthalic acids on skeletal catalysts. A skeletal cobalt catalyst prepared by leaching in the cold has considerably greater selective action than that obtained by leaching with heating.
-
2.
Polycondensation of the salt of p-(β,β'-diaminodiethylbenzene) and adipic acid gives a high molecular weight fiber forming polyamide with m.p. 314–320°.
-
3.
We have studied the properties of the polyamides based on p-(β,β'-diaminodiethylbenzene) and sebacic and terephthalic acids.
