Summary
-
1.
The catalytic properties of four rhenium sulfide-alumina catalysts have been investigated, with rhenium contents of 1, 5,10, and 15%, for the conversion of cyclohexane at 500° and 5 atm hydrogen pressure in a flow-system.
-
2.
All the catalysts investigated produce dehydrogenation of cyclohexane into benzene and its isomerization into methylcyclopentane. The extent of these reactions depends on the rhenium content in the catalysts.
-
3.
A method has been worked out for determining rhenium in the catalyzates investigated, using the photometric method.
