Conclusions

  1. 1.

The principles pertaining to the sequence of reactions in the hydrogenation of compounds of the furan series over a nickel catalyst, derived earlier on the basis of the multiplet theory, find further confirmation in a large number of cases (52 conversions).

  2. 2.

This principle proved to be correct practically without exception below 150°. Above this temperature complications are encountered, the causes of which are discussed.
